Mohun Bagan has announced the goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee as the skipper for the next season on Wednesday, while Deepak Mondal has been named as the vice-captain of the club team.

Mridul Banerjee, who was assistant coach of East Bengal in last season, will replace Satyajit Chatterjee as the assistant coach after Satyajit resigned on Tuesday.

On the issue of resign by Satyajit, the club secretary Anjan Mitra said that Satyajit’s contract with the club was expired and he was reluctant to continue his work with club.

He added that in this professional world age has no value, and promotion would be given on basis of quality rather than on the basis of seniority.

Satyajit had resigned saying that he could not work under his junior but Mitra justified that their team has won five trophies under the guidance of Karim and Karim was the most appropriate candidate for the coach post.

The first practice session of Bagan was postponed to Thursday morning by the coach Karim Bencherifa  after interruption by the rain on Wednesday.
