Mirwaiz Omar Farooq hopes PPP to continue its Kashmir policy
Srinagar, Jan 1: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, is hopeful about the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) continuing to support the Kashmir issue after Benazir Bhutto.
"We are hopeful that PPP will carry forward the traditions, because the relation of PPP and Kashmir is very old. There had been an approach, if you see from the time of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (father of Benazir Bhutto). We hope that the leadership will get out of the crisis and their next policies would be in right direction," the Mirwaiz said.
The Mirwaiz termed Bhutto’s assassination as a blow to the India-Pakistan peace talks and to Kashmir's resolution.
"Bhutto was a very positive-thinking lady from Kashmir's point of view. She felt the importance of India-Pakistan dialogue and importance of Kashmiri people's participation in the issue. It's really a big loss," he added.
Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 13 days before a parliamentary poll she had hoped to win. (ANI)
