Microsoft restricting users from bypassing tiled start screen
Software giant, Microsoft is reportedly blocking its users from bypassing the tiled start screen of the Windows 8 and going directly to their desktop screens.
Much has been speculated about the company blocking its users form directly booting their systems to the desktop screens instead of going to the tiled start screen. It is believed that the company is takng the step in order to compete in the tablet market.
Windows 8 will has a Metro interface, which is designed for touchscreen computers and tablets and includes use HTML5 and CSS3. Analysts are evaluating the developer preview release and it is to be seen if the platform is able to attract users in the smartphone and tablet market dominated by Google's Android and Apple.
The tiled user interface screen is optimized for the touch screen and Microsoft wants more people to adopt the mechanism. Its adoption on various devices will help the company expand its presence across various segments.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has said that it will not use the Metro as the name for the Windows 8 UI due to the possibility of a trademark issue with German Hypermarket chain with the same name.
