Microsoft confirms Windows 7 family pack accessible on Aug. 6     Microsoft, the software giant has confirmed that there will be a Windows 7 family pack that will allow its partners and business customers to get their hands on Windows 7 release-to-manufacturing (RTM) code on multiple dates.

Microsoft's Windows-7 family pack will allow installation of the software on as many as 3 computers.

Any TechNet subscriber, including developers will be able to download Windows 7 RTM from Microsoft Connect on August 6.

Volume license customers will be able to download the software on August 7, through company's Volume License Service Center. Software in languages other than English will be available on October 1.

OEMs will receive Windows 7 RTM software about two days after the code is officially released to manufacturing.

Beta testers who are not subscribers will have to wait until the worldwide general availability of the software on October 22 to get the final code.

Anybody can make a pre-order for Windows 7 via a number of online retailers but company's early discount for the software, which was about 50 percent of the standard price, has perished.
