Microsoft to begin Mango roll out soon

Microsoft to begin Mango roll out soon Software giant, Microsoft has said that the roll out of the next generation of its Windows Phone mobile software, dubbed "Mango" will begin in "a week or two" for handsets being used by the customers.

The announcement indicates that the company will meet its October deadline for releasing the new software to the public. The company has sent the new version to carriers for testing back in July.

"Boom. no more rumours. Mango to start rolling out on Windows Phone in just a week or two", wrote Brandon Watson, head of apps and developers on Windows Phone at Microsoft on Twitter.

The new version will offer various significant improvements to the platform and expand the availability in a number of locations and languages. The Windows Phone software, which was launched in October 2010, has not been able to attract a great number of users.

The platform only managed to get a market share of 1.2% share, which is lower than the lower version of the company's software. Microsoft is aiming to change that with the release, which will allow the company to compete better with the likes of Apple and Google Android.

Handset maker, Nokia has already agreed to manufacture devices based on the Windows Phone software and will soon eb able to release Mango powered phones.
