Miandad resigns as PCB’s director general

Javed-MiandadDue to a limited role offered in PCB, former test captain Javed Miandad quit as director general of the Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday.

Miandad informed, "I have tendered my resignation to the chairman PCB because I was only confined to look after affairs of domestic cricket and was never consulted in other cricketing affairs."

Back in November, Miandad was appointed by incoming PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt.

Just a day after the PCB named Younis Khan as captain, replacing Shoaib Malik following Pakistan's biggest ever defeat in one-day internationals at the hands of Sri Lanka on Saturday, Maindad's resignation came.

Maindad, since his appointment in November, had been working on an honorary basis, and only on Tuesday he had received a formal contract.

He explained, "The contract read that I will look after domestic cricket, development of the grounds and development of the game which was not sufficient for what I really wanted to do for the promotion of cricket in Pakistan."

If adhered to Maindad, then he was not included in the decision-making process when Butt removed Malik as captain and appointed Khan as the new skipper.
