McDonald’s sells more burgers to post $1 billion as profitMcDonald's Corporation, on the back of a rise in the global sales, managed to post a net profit of $1 billion for the first quarter. In percentage terms it comes out to be a jump of 11 per cent.

Per share profit was $1 as against 87 cents or $979.5 million for the same period in the last year.

The fast food-chain giant posted a total revenue o $5.61 billion, which is 10 per cent higher than last year. This includes all the receipts taken from the franchisee restaurants.

If the currency exchanges are excluded then the total rise in sales comes out to be 4 per cent.

The good news for the company is that it managed to earn more revenue than the analysts had expected it to. The figure quoted by them was 96 cents per share or $5.53 billion.

McDonald's said that the same-store sale has gone up by 42 per cent. Most of this has been in Asian region that saw a rise of 5.7 per cent followed by Europe with 5.2 per cent and then the US with 1.5 per cent. Middle East and Africa also did well.
