Mahindra’s exit - a kick to soccer officers
After the M&M Group announced its exit with the disbanding of Mahindra United that will not be taking part in the next season of the I-league, it is believed that it is big kick to the soccer administrators working under the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF).
In fact, experts believe that the AIFF officials were familiar with the developments in the club but didn't take satisfactory actions to prevent the exit.
Moreover, it is believed that more clubs can go the Mahindra way if things don't improve in the coming times. With an annual expense of around Rs. 6-8 crore, operating in Indian soccer is considered more as a charity by many corporate houses.
Babu Mather, a consultant with Viva Kerala said that the publicity that the companies get by involving them with the brand is almost minimal as no one comes to see the matches in stadiums and same is the scenario with the idiot box.
Simply, it is a failure on the part of the AIFF officials to improve things. Experts believe that Indian football needs visibility in the coming time both on and off the field and high level of professionalism can only improve things for the sport in the country.
