Liz Claiborne is in deep losses during Q2

Liz-ClaiborneLiz Claiborne Inc. has faced massive loss figures in the second quarter of this fiscal. The women's clothing maker has faced this loss because of huge one-time charges which were the result of the heavy expenditure that it had to pay for revamping some of its brands.

The clothing company has shifted some of its brands under the umbrella name of the retailers with whom it had exclusive agreements.

For the quarter ending July 3, the total losses were at $86.8 million or 92 cents per share. This is higher as compared to the one that it had during the same period last year. At that time, the figures were at $82.1 million, or 87 cents per share.

While the figure is too big, if the restructuring costs and other one-time expenses are removed then the figures stand at a paltry 19 cents per share, which is much less than what the analysts had predicted.

Meanwhile, revenue fell down by 16 per cent to $569.8 million as against $674.6 million during last year.

Said CE William McComb that the figures are as the company had expected and there is nothing to worry.
