Lakme Fashion Week: Not Haute
The Lakme Fashion Week began with controversies with reputed designer Wendell Rodricks being seemingly replaced on the mentor’s list without being given a notice. Following that, a majority of designers claimed that they had not even got invitations for the shows.
Apart from the absence of biggies such as Narendra Kumar, Vikram Phadnis, Neeta Lulla etc, a category of the designers even highlight the fact that there had been some discontent with respect to a few designers not having been allowed sponsored shows.
According to designer Rahul Mishra who was not a participant this year, it is a little unfashionable to be seen at the fashion shows these days due to innumerability of them. He had gone to the Japanese show solely since he was a part of the process. Apart from that, he did not get any kind of formal invitation.
If the response to the Lakme Fashion Week recently conducted is to be counted, then Mumbai’s most glamorous event will further go down.
Nevertheless, now it’s up to the organizers to step forward to solve these issues to maintain the good reputation of the event.
