Lakhani eases through second round of ITF
The third seeded Indian Isha Lakhani has entered into the second round of women's International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament with prize money of $10,000 after defeating her wildcard compatriot Shweta Rana 6-4, 6-2 at the DLTA complex in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Isha will now lock horns with Indian qualifier Sheethal Goutham in the second round. Sheethal ousted another Indian qualifier Aishwarya Agrawal 4-6, 6-0, 7-5 in her first round match.
The top seeded Emili Webley-Smith of Britain also won her match against Indian qualifier Abhilasha Ahuja 6-0, 6-2 to move to next round. The fourth seeded Rushmi Chakravarthi pulled herself out of the match after trailing by 2-5 in the first set against Parul Goswami. Parul will now play against qualifier Ankita Raina in second round.
The fifth seeded Sanaa Bhambri outclassed Armenian Ani Amiraghyan 6-0, 7-6 (3) to set up clash with Thai Chutharat Rungtein in the second round.
