Labor Union urges Congress to pass bill to fight China's currency

Labor Union urges Congress to pass bill to fight China's currency Worried about the kind of impact that China's administered currency is having on the US economy, the largest labor union has asked the Congress to pass a legislation to fight it out. The statement came from the union just a day after the Obama government refused to label China as a currency manipulator, something that is known across the world.

Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO labor federation also urged the US government to keep its points on the table of World Trade Organization and directly challenge the way China controls its currency. He blamed the Treasury Department and added that it has ignored the overwhelming evidence that suggested that China has intervened into the proper functioning of the currency and that it has been doing so for many years now. Chinese yen has been undervalued by as much as 40 per cent.

He urged that the Congress that a bipartisan bill should be passed which should have the backing of the Democratic as well. There are currently 16 such Senators who support that US should take some step. The trouble is that lowering of US currency has been costing thousand of jobs to America.
