Karnataka Transport on recruitment drive
Karnataka Transport Minister R Ashok announced that in order to strengthen its four transport corporations, the department is going to recruit 18,000 personnel including drivers, conductors and technical hands during the year. It is worthwhile to mention that the government has announced its ambitious plan to add 5,000 new buses to its fleet.
The Transport Minister announced that directions have been issued to the four transport corporations namely KSRTC, KNETC, KNWRTC and BMTC to start the recruitment process. He said entire recruitment process will be transparent and according to rules. He also announced setting up of four driver training schools at Hassan, Hubli, Gulbarga and Bangalore.
Mr. R Ashok further said that the government was firm on banning private buses plying on nationalized routes. On the other hand, private transport companies asserted that the government can not have monopoly in public transport system and their decision can be questioned in the court of law.
