Kapil Dev now in ICC Hall of Fame list
The former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev who led the team that won the World cup for the country back in 1983 has been recently added to the ICC Hall of Fame list. The Indian all-rounder was honoured at an event where several ICC officials were present accompanying a handful of invited guests.
ICC President David Morgan presented a commemorative cap to Kapil. Kapil however said that he grew watching Sunil Gavaskar play and was grateful to the ICC for the award.
The legend took 434 wickets in his test career which was the maximum number of wickets taken by any Indian bowler at that time. The record was however broken by the Indian spinner Anil Kumble after several years. In fact, the catch he took to dismiss Vivian Richards in the 1983 final is considered to be the game changing moment even today.
With Kapil now in the list of cricket legends, the cricketing fever in India will get more charged up as there are many contenders lining up to strike the gold.
