K’taka govt doctors to resign en masse

Karnataka governmentHere’s wake-up call for the Karnataka government.

Around 4,000 doctors in Karnataka’s government hospitals would resign en masse on Tuesday to protest against low pay scales.

Confirming the development, H. N. Ravindra, president of the Karnataka Government Medical Officers Association, said: “We are resigning en masse Tuesday. We will wait till Oct 14 for the government to either concede our demands for better pay or accept our resignation.”

Notably, B S Yeddyurappa’s led state government had recently declined to accept doctor’s demand on salary hike.

Ravindra, however, added that one or two doctors would be on duty at taluk and district-level hospitals in the state.

According to the Association, they should be at least getting a monthly salary of Rs 35,000/- almost double the current salary of Rs. 18,500.

On the other hand, the state government is ready to hike the current salary by only Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 8,000.
