J&K Doctors call protest against spurious drug scam
Doctors in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have indirectly criticized the state government for not taking actions against the spurious drug scam in the state and have called for street protests today to compel the authorities to bring the accused persons to justice.
Doctors Association of Kashmir accused the state government of hatching conspiracy and criticised it for not sacking and arresting persons involved in the scam. The association also called upon the Bar Association, Trade Unions and Civil Society to participate in the fight the scam with a united front.
President of the DAK association Dr Nissar-ul-Hassan said, "This is a fight against murderers. I urge the people especially youth to come out on the roads to protest and force these murderers out of the sacred valley." He displayed two drugs Maximizen 625 and Curecef 1000 claiming that they do not comply with the standard quality as defined in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
He pointed out that even after the details of the scam are known to some degree of certainty, the authorities have not made any arrests and no official have been questioned in the matter. He also called upon minister for Public Health Engineering, Sham Lal Sharma to launch a free and fair probe into the drugs scam.
