Jet Airways & JetLite Get Govt. Nod To Operate Flights To Dubai
Earlier, only Air India was permitted to aviate to Dubai, but now Jet Airways and JetLite owned by Naresh Goyal have also been shown green flag by the government to operate flights to Dubai. Furthermore, Air Deccan has also been permitted to operate flights to this part of the world.
The Jet Airways was earlier allowed to fly to many Gulf countries by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The Civil aviation ministry official reported that “Jet and JetLite have been allowed to fly to Dubai. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) would soon issue no-objection certificate (NOC) to both the carriers.” According to Civil aviation ministry official, a Note for Deccan to operate on Bangalore-Dubai sector has also been sent.
Focusing on Jet Airways, the ministry has granted it the permission to operate seven flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Dubai. It will have a total weekly entitlement of 1,582 seats. Last year the airline was granted the permission to fly from India to Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.
JetLite on the other hand will fly from Hyderabad and Nagpur to Dubai from the schedule planned for winter this year.
Rajiv Gupta JetLite COO said, “It’s a very lucrative route, but operation on it would depend on the scenario at that time. We are optimistic to begin operation as the route is economically viable to operate.”
