Japan -US form a deal on Okinawa
Japan and the US have agreed on a deal to relocate an American military base on the Japanese island, Okinawa. They have announced to move the Futenma base to a less crowded location of the island from its current urban location.
The Japanese Prime Minister has informed that both the nations have agreed to move the whole Okinawa base altogether.
Earlier the Prime Minister, Mr. Hatoyama had said that they could reach to a result over the Futenma issue till the end of May.
In a joint statement from Japan-US, both the nations are all prepared for the reestablishment of the base. Japan has said this move has taken not only with the aim to defense the Japan but also for the security, prosperity and peace of the Asia-pacific region. This brand new deal is very similar to the deal reached in the year 2006 which could not be reached to a success due to some domestic political reasons. Okinawa has been the home away from home for the half of the 47,000 US troops based in Japan.
