IT industry to recruit 200,000 next fiscal
According to a new report, the IT industry is expected to recruit about 200,000 people in the next fiscal year despite the continuing uncertainty in the global economy and concerns over the IT spending by global firms.
A report by Industry body National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said that about 200,000 people will be recruited in the industry and out of which 100,000 fresh graduates have already received offer letters. The industry's expected to hire 230,000 in the fiscal.
The industry would be employing 2.7 million directly and 8.9 million indirectly in the country. The IT-BPO sector remains one of the largest employment sectors in the country that provides 11.7 million jobs in the country. The direct employment by the industry is expected to rise by as much as 9 per cent.
"We have projected a growth of 11-14 per cent. We will revisit the same in October. Based on this as of now the hiring will be 200,000, but we think we will either hire similar number as FY12 or slightly higher," said Rajendra Pawar, chairman, Nasscom.
Indian IT firms have created over 25,000-30,000 jobs in the US, according to estimates. However, as the election nears in the US, the sentient against outsourcing will be become widespread.
