IT-B director quits, joining US firm

The Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Bombay, Mr. Ashok Mishra has resigned from this prestigious post. He is expected to join US firm Intellectual Ventures in the month of September.

He said that he had earlier submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Human Resource and Development and it is accepted now. Misra is alumnus of IIT-Kanpur. He was a professor of chemical engineering and fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and National Academy of Sciences. He has six patents to his credit.

This announcement was made at the two-day Golden Jubilee Conference held in New by IIT-Bombay. Mr. Mishra was working with the institute from last six years and he had two more years to serve as director of the IIT Bombay. Computer Science Department head, Deepak Phatak also confirmed his resignation at the function. He remembered the opening of new institutes during his tenure as director and appreciated his way of administration.

IIT-B 1969 alumnus and RTI activist Shailesh Gandhi also appreciated his proactive entrepreneurship and visionary approach.

IIT-B Public Relations Officer (PRO) Jaya Joshi told reporters that Board of Governors will decide the next director of IIT-B.
