Tel Aviv  - An Israeli settler shot dead a Palestinian youth who threw stones along with several other Palestinians at his car as he drove on a road in the northern West Bank, Israel Radio reported.

The Israeli motorist, from the settlement of Immanuel, called the Israeli army, saying he opened fire because he felt endangered by the stone-throwing youths as he passed by a Palestinian village.

Israeli police tracked down the shooter and detained him for questioning. (dpa)
