iRiver launches Wi-Fi ebook reader
iRiver, one of the known names of gadget manufacturer of UK, has come up with a new ebook reader called the iRiver Wi-Fi Story at a retail price of £250. It is said that iRiver, known for its exceptional media players, will join hands with WHSmith for its release and at the same time Wi-Fi Story users can easily download book from the WHSmith e-book store via a Wi-Fi connection.
Resembling close to a standard ebook reader that of Amazon Kindle, it comes with a 6-inch, 4-bit greyscale screen offering 800x600 pixels and powered by Linux, with a Flow UI front end. In terms if specs it comes with 2GB internal storage (that can be upgraded to 32GB thanks to a SD card reader) and can read files such as (EPub, PDF, TXT, FBU, DJVU) as well as Microsoft Office and other picture files like JPEG, GIF and BMP, all these including the Wi-Fi connectivity. It also is compatible with MP3, OGG and WMP files and spawns a battery life of 900 pages and boasts of a QWERTY keyboard.
