Intoxicated zoo visitor attacked by tiger while trying to feed

tiger Despite various warnings of the zoo authorities, strictly prohibiting feeding encaged animals and teasing them, some people try to feed animals. Ramesh (35) got a severely mauled arm as a result of offending rules and regulations of the zoo by trying to feed a tiger even after closure of visitor hours.

At the Nehru Zoological Park, visiting hours end at 5 p. m. After closure of the zoo for public, the animals are sent to the night house and its gates locked thereafter. Ramesh in inebriated state jumped over the chain-link fence of the white tiger's enclosure around 6 p. m.

He tried to feed grass to the tiger by putting his hand through the grill bars. The animal lunged at him and mauled his arm down to the wrist. He cried for help. It took three security personnel to free him from the tiger's clasp. However till then he had lost a great deal of flesh from his right arm.

He was immediately rushed to the Osmania General Hospital. He is out of danger right now but he lost the muscles on his right hand from forearm almost up to the shoulder and also suffered scratches on his face.
