Intel invests over $60 million in Yuneec International

Yuneec International, a Shanghai-based drone and aerospace company, has been able to secure more than $60 million investment from Intel. The latter company has also invested in other drone companies, Airware and PrecisionHawk, as it wants to avoid the decline being witnessed by PC market. It has now being focusing on the commercial use of drones.

Intel Chief Executive Brian Krzanich has said that a video announcement that both the companies will also be jointly developing products. Yuneec founder Tian Yu said that his company drones also include versions for consumers and enterprise users.

Yu affirmed that his company’s drones are different from others as they are easy to use having a built-in screen for a controller and even a person who is new to drone driving can fly it easily. Experts said that drone market has been witnessing a great growth.

Venture capital firms have been funding into startups. As per CB Insights, by May 2015, drone companies had raised $172 million, which is much more than the last three years combined. To talk about Intel, it has been looking forward to start building an ecosystem that can put into semiconductors and also, diversifies its revenue beyond chips. Experts said that Intel has been recovering from slow growth revenue.

The latest move is a strong indication that Brian Krzanich, who has become Intel’s chief executive in May 2013, wants to take the company well beyond than just being limited to computers.
