Injured Younis ruled out of opening match
Pakistan faced a major blow before start of their campaign in the Champions Trophy as Pakistan skipper Younis Khan has been ruled out of the opening match against West Indies due to injury. Champions Trophy will kick off from today with match between South Africa and Sri Lanka.
Younis had sustained a hairline fracture on the little finger of his right hand during warm-up match against Sri Lanka on Friday in Benoni. He received injury when he and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal collided with each other while going for a catch in the slips.
Pakistan manager Yawar Saeed informed that injured Younis is doubtful for the opening match against Sri Lanka and the final decision will be taken after accessing his recovery from the injury in the nets. He added that Younis would be fit for the all important match against their rivals.
Meanwhile, Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi will lead the Pakistan squad in the opening match. Pakistan will play their next match against India in Centurion on 26
