Indian volleyball team creates historyIndian volleyball team has created history by cruising in to the semifinals of the 2009 FIVB men's Junior Volleyball World Championship. Indian team defeated Belgium 18-25, 25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 15-11 (3-2) to qualify for the semifinal for the first time in the Indian volleyball history at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi on Thursday.

Indian team started the match on a negative note as they lost first set 18-25 in the Pool E quarterfinal league. But in the second set Indian team came out with a totally different approach as Gurinder Singh and Mandeep Singh helped Indian team to outplay Belgium team 25-19 with booming smashes.

Indian team's good show continued in the third set also and they raced away with the third set 25-16. But Belgium stroked back in the fourth set as Kevin Klinkenberg crushed the Indian defense with powerful smashes to lead Belgium to win fourth set 22-25.

The fifth and last set was very close but Indian team held their nerves to win the set and match. Argentina is another team from Pool E to make into the semifinals.
