Indian squad arrives at Colombo
The Indian cricket team has arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo for participating in the Compaq Cup tri-series. India, host Sri Lanka and New Zealand are the three teams which will lock horns in the one-day international tournament.
The 15-member Indian team was forced to fly from a special aircraft of National carrier Air India as their scheduled Jet Airways flight was abandoned due to ongoing strike of pilots. The plane boarding Indian squad took off from Chennai at 11.00 a. m. on Wednesday and arrived at Colombo at 1.55 p. m. (SLT).
Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Dinesh Karthik, Abhishek Nayar, Ashish Nehra, Yusuf Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Venkatesh Prasad, and Robin Singh and coach Gary Kirsten were among the players who reached at the Colombo from special flight. Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and R P Singh will join them later as they were playing in BCCI corporate trophy from their respective teams.
Indian team will start their campaign in the tri-series with match against New Zealand on 11th September. The final match will be held at Colombo on 14th September.
