Indian casino operator Delta Corp reports record quarterly revenue

Delta Corp, an Indian gaming corporation that owns and operates offshore casinos, has set a new record in terms of quarterly revenue as it generated the highest-ever amount of INR 338 crores (approximately US$41 million) in the April through June quarter of this year.

In the three month-period ending 30th of June this year, Delta Corp reported fantastic performance in all divisions, particularly in its land-based and offshore casinos.

In its latest filing with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India, the casino operator revealed its impressive results for its financial year that starts on 1st of April each year. The company revealed that it earned INR277 crores (approximately US$34 million). The figure represents a jump of 10.7 per cent, and the consecutive growth was recorded at 29.5 per cent. However, online skill games’ earning slipped slightly to INR 43.1 crores (approx. US$5.3 million) on quarterly basis.

In hospitality segment, the operator earned INR 17.18 crores (roughly US$2.1 million), and the growth was recorded compared to the preceding year as well as the preceding quarter.

The company said in a statement that it is very satisfied with the results it achieved in the casino gaming segments. Delta Corp Chairman Jaydev Mody said that they demonstrated a strong as well as resilient business with a really strong growth.

When asked for a comment, Chairman Mody said: “The momentum set by the last FY was carried on with the first quarter giving us yet another milestone in the form of the highest revenue ever and margin expansions at both EBITDA and Net Profit levels. Regulatory clarity over issues concerning the industry is expected in due course of time.”

The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation & amortization), which is used as an indicator of a company’s overall profitability, was reported at INR 101 crores (approx. US$12.3 million). The figure represents a huge growth, with a margin improvement of over 1000 basis points (bps) sequentially. On a yearly basis, the figure represents a margin improvement of more than 100 bps.

The total profit that delta corp. earned in the April-June quarter was INR 89.5 crores (approx. US$10.9 million), up 272 per cent from the corresponding quarter of 2022.

Pune, Maharashtra-headquartered Delta Corp also admitted that a number of issues and concerns around its business are yet to be fixed, but the company also expressed confidence that it would overcome the same by implementing right strategies in the coming quarters.
