India bans China made toys

India bans China made toysThe government has announced to ban toys made in Chine with immediate effect. The move is aimed to save the interest of local manufactures, who are facing stiff completion from these toys.

Indian markets are flooded with Chinese toys which at available at very cheap prices across the country. Domestic manufacturers had been demanding import ban on these products to save local toy industry and a large number of jobs.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade has notified the ban without citing any reason which would remain valid for next six months. Lead leads to various healths related problems for children playing with these toys. India has already banned import of milk and milk products including chocolates from China.

The general secretary of Toys Association of India (TAI), Rajesh Arora said, "We are surprised that the government has taken this step. In most likelihood, it has been done to protect India's labour engaged in this sector."

However, the secretary of Ministry for Small and Medium Enterprises, Dinesh Rai said, "We are not aware of this development."
