I&B Ministry Issues Show Cause Notices To MTV, Bindass For Reality Shows

I&B Ministry Issues Show Cause Notices To MTV, Bindass For Reality ShowsThe Information and Broadcasting Ministry has forwarded show-cause notices to two well-known TV channels, MTV and UTV Bindass, for showcasing offensive content in their shows, which, in turn, allegedly hurt good taste and affability, and degrade women.

The ministry issued a notice to MTV for its reality show 'Splitsvilla-3', which displays girls indulging in contest attracting male judges.

While, UTV Bindaas's Emotional Atyachar has been aimed by the I&B ministry for showing disloyalty of mates through sting operations.

Both TV channels have been charged for disobedience of Rule 6 of Programme Code referred under Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.

The notice said, "The show contains visuals which appear to be obscene and vulgar. The programme also denigrates women by depicting them in a bad light. The show is not suitable for children and for unrestricted public exhibition."

The ministry stated that the scenes are not apt for kids and for unrestricted public exposition.

In the past, the Ministry issued strict warnings to MTV for showing repulsive content in its realty programmes 'Splitsville' and 'Roadies'. (IANS)
