I’ll Continue To Play In IPL, Says Sachin Tendulkar
Ace Indian cricketer Sachin Tenudlkar who has willingly retired from international Twenty20 cricket, said he would carry on playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
After Mumbai Indian lost by 22 runs to Chennai Super Kings in the IPL III summit clash, Tendulkar said, "It has been a very special tournament for us, barring the final. Most likely I will be playing next year as well. It has been fun playing in the IPL. I have enjoyed a lot. I have always enjoyed playing cricket."
Tendulkar added that poor fielding has cost his side dear in the final match, which took place at the D Y Patil Stadium, although their slow start in the run-chase was also to be held responsible for their defeat.
''A couple of important catches cost us. There is a saying that catches win matches. The start in the run-chase also was not up to the mark.'' Robin Singh, the Mumbai Indians coach, agreed with Sachin saying, ''the batting in the first ten overs cost us the match coupled with the dropped catches which helped Chennai Super Kings reach a score of 168 rather than around 145-150 which we had targetted.''
Master blaster also said that for him Sourabh Tiwary, Ambatti Rayudu and Kieron Pollard were the three best performers for Mumbai Indians during the whole event.
The winner of the orange cap for hitting the maximum runs in IPL -3 was Mumbai Indian's captain Sachin Tendulkar who was closely followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore's Jacques Kallis. (With Inputs from Agencies)
