Hitler’s self-portrait fetches £10k at auction

Hitler’s self-portrait fetches £10k at auctionLondon, Apr 24 : A self-portrait by Adolf Hitler has fetched 10,000 pounds at an auction.

The watercolour is thought to be one of the Nazi leader's earliest works.

The picture, which was painted in 1910 when the artist was 21, shows a figure sitting on a stone bridge with a cross and the initials AH above it. There are no facial features but the hairstyle is reminiscent of the older Hitler's and experts are sure it is a self-portrait, reports The Daily Express.

Mullocks at Ludlow Racecourse in Shropshire also auctioned another 12 watercolours by Hitler, which fetched a total of 81,700 pounds.

Mullocks' historical documents expert Richard Westwood-Brookes said: "We've had a huge amount of interest in this particular lot. The self-portrait was bought by a foreign buyer."

The paintings were discovered by a US soldier in Essen, Germany, in 1945. They were sold to the current vendor and kept out of sight for decades. (ANI)
