Hike in prices from day 1 of the New Year
When most of the citizens in capital were busy celebrating the New Year and with most of them yet to come out of the hangovers, the government gave a shock to the citizens by increasing prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG). This came down as beating on the pockets of the middle class, as they were yet to come out from the burden of increased petrol prices and food prices.
Indraprastha Gas increased the prices of CNG by 4.5 per cent or Rs.1.25 and PNG by 12 per cent or Rs.2.10.
The increased prices have come into effect from Saturday midnight itself and the new CNG for the cars will now be available at the new price of Rs.29 per kg.
For consumption till 90 scm in four months the consumer will have to pay RS. 18.95 Per scm instead of the earlier Rs.16.85 per standard cubic meters (scm). A flat rate of Rs. 26 per scm will be applicable if the consumption exceeds 90 scm.
The Delhi citizens battled the inflation for almost entire 2010 and have started the New Year with a price hike note too.
