“Healthex 2010” covers various healthcare issues
Pratap C Reddy, the CII National Health Council chairman at the "Healthex 2010" show his concern for increasing the doctor-patient ratio and at the same time he also provide a solution to this problem by offering a proposal of increasing the number of hospitals across the country.
He put stress on the need of world class medical institutions in India. He told that we need more hospitals like India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in other parts of the country.
"Healthex 2010" is organized at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) for four days. It is exhibition of medical, surgical and diagnostic equipment, technology, materials, supplies and allied services. Around 70 companies have participated in the "Healthex 2010".
Another topic which was discussed during the exhibition was withdrawal of cashless hospitalization by the PSU health insurers. Naresh Trehan, cardiologist and chairman of CII National Committee on Healthcare said that the recent decision is only the symptom; the real disease is the cost of healthcare in India.
He further said that withdrawal is not the solution; there is a need of dialogue between insurance companies, hospitals and patients.
