Health Canada approves Aurobindo's Gabapentin capsules
The health department of Canadian Government has allowed Aurobindo Pharma for submission of its abbreviated new drug, Gabapentin capsules in 100mg, 300mg and 400mg strengths.
Aurobindo Pharma is a Hyderabad-based manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The company is already supplying some generic drugs in the Canadian market. The recent approval by Canadian health body is the sixth approval received by Indian Pharmaceutical major.
Gabapentin falls under the central nervous system (CNS) segment. It is used for treatment of seizures in patients diagnosed with epilepsy. Gabapentin capsules are the equivalent generic version of Pfizer Canada Inc.'s Neurontin capsules.
The shares of Aurobindo Pharma declined 0.29% and traded at Rs 173.00 at the Indian stock market. Total of 2,774 shares were traded the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday by 11.36 am.
