Haryana won men’s title in Fed Cup Jr. Athletics
Haryana boys made their state proud after winning the men's championship in the ninth edition of National Federation Cup junior athletics championships while Kerala apex the medal tally in the girl's championship at the 35th Battalion PAC Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.
Chennai girl G Gayathri emerged as start performer on the last day of tournament as she set a new meet record in women's triple jump and also played a major role in
4x100m relay victory of Tamil Nadu.
On third day of the meet, Gayathri cleared 12.87m, which was way behind of her personal best of 13.10m in the State meet, to surpass the meet record of 12.65m, which was set by Tamil Nadu's K. Revathi in 2004.
Gayathri continued her winning streak to play role of an anchor to win second gold medal of the day for Kerala in the 4x100m relay as Tamil Nadu finished at the second place in the overall medal tally with 5 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals.
Harayan finished at the top of the overall medal tally with eight gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals and P. Kesavaramani of Tamil Nadu was adjudged the best athlete among men.
