Guruvayur priests are on a go slow strike
After suspension of four priests of the famous Guruvayur temple, the assistant priests are on a go slow strike.
According to the sources, A devotee had bought ‘appam’ from the counter of the temple on Thursday and he found a cigarette butt in that ‘prasadam’. He reported to the temple management of finding the cigarette butt in ‘prasadam’. Following his complaint, the managing committee of the Guruvayur Devaswom suspended the four priests who were involved in the preparation of ‘appam’
On the basis of preliminary report submitted by chief accounts officer V.P. Somasekharan, the Devaswom managing committee suspended Kodakkattil Cheriya Krishnan Namboodiri, Moolamangalam Radhakrishnan Namboodiri, Nageri Kesavan Namboodiri and Mecheri Govindan Namboodiri. A show-cause notice was also issued to deputy administrator P. Ashok Kumar for alleged delay in informing about the incident to the managing committee.
On Saturday, long queues of devotees were seen outside the Guruvayur temple as rituals got excessively delayed.
