Government postpones permission for FDI in Rajasthan Royals
The government has once again deferred the permission to allow for 100 per cent foreign equity in the IPL team for Rajasthan, Rajasthan Royals.
Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt. Ltd. had approached the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for the same through the means of issuing shares. The permission was for considerations which were not done in cash.
The proposal was to induct 100 per cent foreign equity in Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt. Ltd. which is one of the owners of Rajasthan Royal.
This is the second time that FIPB has not given its decision. The first time was in October last year when it had refused to allow the inflow. This had forced the company to go re-application.
The application is for the entry of $5.82 million in the team.
Meanwhile, the report of this application has already been submitted with Central Board of Direct Taxes' (CBDT). An arm of it is investigating the funding of the IPL teams, after the issue made way for a scandal.
JIPL's proposal is one of the 17 that has stopped for time being by FIPB. It has, on the other hand, cleared 18 other proposals worth Rs. 3.44 billion.
