Government earns Rs. 62,000 crore through 3G
As per the data collected after fifth round of 3G auctioning, the total earning of the government has reached Rs. 62,253.83 crore.
This data is about the provisional revenue that has been generated by auctioning the spectrum. The nationwide licensing alone was able to generate Rs. 15,416.56 crore. This includes 167 rounds of auctioning.
The auctioning had begun on April 30 and till now the total license price of the pan-India 3G auction is 340 per cent higher than what it was estimated in the reserve price. That was Rs. 3,500 crore.
This amount is much higher than what the government had expected to raise during this time. It expected to raise Rs. 55,00 crore for both the broadband and the 3G, all this while.
But more money was raised, thanks to aggressive biding by the companies.
Even now, slot for three to four players remains in 22 circles and there is a big fight going on in between the companies for that.
So, this means that more money can be raised now. The telecom players participating in this are- Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular, Tata Teleservices, Aircel, Etisalat, S Tel and Videocon Telecommunications.
