Google admits faulty Wi-Fi data collection
Google Australia has accepted the fact that they have collected information about people from the encrypted Wi-Fi networks for the last three years illegally. This fact came out after the audit of the data that the Street View cars gathered, done by German authorities.
But later Google had informed that the data had been mistakenly gathered from open networks. Now this could be a case of potential privacy breaches. So Google Australia is in trouble now.
The collected data includes the text, photographs and some parts of an e-mail also.
Google clarified in one of its blogspot weblog that as soon as they knew this fact they have stopped their Street View cars from collecting data from the Wi-Fi networks.
Now, a third party will check the software used for it and the main problem behind this system. They will also check what data has been gathered till now. The senior Vice President of engineering and research, Mr. Alan Eustace has said the crucial thing is to get and maintain the people’s trust on them.
