Germany thrashes Canada 6-0 in HWCThe defending champion Germany has defeated Canada by 6-0 in the second match of the Pool A to register their first win in the Hockey World Cup (HWC) at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The man of the match Benjamin Wess slammed three goals for Germany while Jan-Marco Montag, Max Muller and Martin Haner scored one goal each. Germany took 4-0 lead in the first half and continued their dominance in the second half to seal the match by 6-0.

Germany has now four points in the two matches as they had played a 2-2 draw against Korea in the first match of the Pool A. On the other hand, Canada has not yet opened their account as they have lost their both matches.

Germany has won the World Cup crown twice in 2002 and 2006 and they will be eyeing to clinch the title for the third time in a row. Germany had also won the gold medal in the Beijing Olympics two years ago.
