Rajinder Singh Maharaj's city visit a big draw

The two-day annual visit of Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission saint Rajinder Singh Maharaj culminated on Thursday. Amidst numerous spiritually oriented activities it was the enlightening speeches rendered by the saint that captivated the minds of the audience. The gathering which was held at the CIDCO Exhibition Ground, Vashi saw mass participation from across. The meeting commenced with the recitation of verse of Saint Namdev by revered Mata Harbhajan Kaur and Mata Rita. This was followed with an insightful and powerful talk by the Saint himself using various references from Sant Namdev's verses.

Braj areas should be developed: NGO

Claiming a success in influencing the Rajasthan government to ban all kinds of mining operations in the spiritually and culturally significant Deeg and Kaman tehsils of Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, the Braj Foundation, an NGO , has demanded a master plan for the Rajasthan part of Braj region.

Addressing a press conference in the city on Friday, the chief executive officer of the foundation and senior journalist Vineet Narain, advocating on the need of developing these regions in Rajasthan said, "Our foundation played a vital role in ensuring ban on mining in Rajasthan portion (Kaman and Deeg) of Bharatpur district. That is just the beginning."

Malaysia allows Herald magazine to use Allah in its publications only for Christians

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 27: The word Allah can be used by the Catholic Herald magazine in Malaysia provided the publication clearly states the word is "For Christians only" in its masthead.

Herald editor Father Lawrence Andrew said this was stated in the recently gazetted Internal Security Act signed by the Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar on February 16.

"The next edition of the Herald will contain the word Allah, and we will print the words "For Christians only" on the masthead so as not to contravene the Act," The Star quoted him, as saying.

It is learnt the Act also forbids the use of the words Kaabah, solat and baitullah.
