Washington - Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Democratic rival Barack Obama continued their last-ditch attempts to appeal to wavering voters in swing states on Thursday as the US economy took another step toward recession.

Obama planned stops in Florida, Virginia and Missouri and jumped on new government figures that showed the economy contracted 0.3 per cent in the third quarter as proof that a change in approach was needed.

With the aim to further provide Netflix's Web streaming service directly to televisions through many devices, on Wednesday, Netflix Inc. said that it has entered a deal with TiVo Inc. 

Though the full terms of the deal were not disclosed, under this deal, Netflix needs to provide subscribers of its online DVD rental service, and 800,000 broadband-connected Tivo subscribers, with the facility to stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix's "Watch Instantly", free of charge. 

The very well known World Champion Viswanathan Anand has managed to retain his title. Anand, born on December 11, 1969 in Chennai, is the son of 

Vishwanathan, who is now a retired general manager, Southern Railways.

the game. His mother had been a great source of inspiration for him. 

It was recently made official that the Indian arm of Japanese auto major Toyota Motor Corporation would be launching a global small car by 2010-11. The car would also be exported to overseas markets in both developed and developing countries, other than being launched in the domestic market. 

This strategy adopted by Toyota is quite similar to other auto majors. The main motive of all these companies is widening their market share tremendously through the launches of their own small cars. 

Recently, Shivender Mohan Singh, CEO and managing director of Fortis Healthcare, announced, “Fortis Healthcare is eyeing acquisitions and is in talks with more than two players in south and west India. The company is hoping to close the transactions in the current financial year.”
