General Motors launches small car 'Beat'
New Delhi, Jan 4 : Car major General Motors Monday launched its mini car "Chevrolet Beat" in India, priced between Rs. 3.34 lakh and Rs. 3.94 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi.
The Beat will shortly be launched in over 150 markets around the world, including Europe, Asia and North America.
The car with a 1.2-litre petrol engine will be available in three variants in India and offers a mileage of 18.6 km per litre.
"With its best-in-segment design, performance and safety, the Beat is destined to become an industry benchmark and a winner among consumers in India," said General Motors India president and managing director Karl Slym.
Slym said the company was also planning a diesel version, to be launched later this year.
"The vehicle was put through over one million kilometres of intensive durability tests in extreme weather conditions and crash tests both in India and abroad," said Slym.
"With a revolutionary design, advanced technology, unique features and benchmark safety, the Beat offers much more than an ordinary mini."(IANS)
