Free Maharashtra of dynasty politics: PM Modi
Kankavali (Maharashtra), Oct 13 : Prime Minister Modi on Monday called on the people of Maharashtra to rid the state of parties that have encouraged entire families into joining politics.
"We have to free Maharashtra of dynastic politics. The people of this country have trust in democracy, which is why they voted for an ordinary man like me," said Prime Minister Modi at a rally here ahead of the Maharashtra legislative assembly elections, in what was a gibe at the other parties contesting the upcoming polls.
"God gave this region everything to attract tourists, but the state governments have only looted you. This is the reason this region never developed," Prime Minister Modi added.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi had accused the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) of looting the state exchequer.
"The NCP has robbed Maharashtra during its rule. They have not only looted the government exchequer but also destroyed the dreams of two generations," he said.
Monday marked the last day of campaigning in Maharashtra, with polls for the state legislative assembly scheduled to be held on October 15. The counting of the votes will take place on October 19. (ANI)
