Buenos Aires  - A head-on crash between two packed buses in a western suburb of Buenos Aires killed four people dead and left dozens injured, officials said Tuesday.

One of the bus drivers and three passengers died in the accident that took place during rush hour Monday. Of the injured, 28 remained in hospital Tuesday, and three were said to be in serious condition.

Earlier reports had put the number of dead at six.

The vehicles crashed into each other at a crossing in the suburb of Lomas del Mirador, as one bus was overtaking a parked car.

Buenos Aires bus drivers are notorious for speeding and their aggressive driving. dpa
