Food inflation rises to 12.81%
The yearly food inflation has risen greatly to a 12.81 per cent for the week till 3rd July, and fuel inflation has risen to 14.27 per cent, leading to the prices of food and fuel shooting up like anything.
The food inflation level had been at an outstanding level of above 16 per cent for the majority of the year, though it had come down to below 13 per cent in mid - June.
Only last week the food inflation had been at a lower level of 12.63 per cent, before shooting up again to 12.81 per cent this week. On the other hand, the fuel inflation was at a higher level of 18.02 per cent.
As a result of the inflation, prices of vegetables like potatoes and onions came down by 5.70 per cent, though the expensive pulses kept the inflation high. Even the price of milk increased.
There was also a hike in the price of fuels, petroleum and diesel alike, recently, and this hike by the government on 25th June led to the price of petroleum products rising 14.27 per cent per annum. The rise of prices of everything has lead to the overall inflation acquiring a 10.55 per cent in June.
