Food inflation comes down to 16.22%
After staying on very high level for months, the food inflation of India has come down to 16.22 per cent. This is for the third consecutive week that the rate has come down.
The fuel inflation, however, has maintained a steady rate in the given period. The fuel price index was at 12.68 per cent for the week ending March 13.
This has happened because of the oil prices in the world market have continued to go up.
The food inflation stood at 16.22 per cent which is lower than the last week's figure of 16.30 per cent. The best part is that the inflation has not risen even after the government increased the fuel prices in late February.
As for the primary articles the index went up to 13.88 per cent. This is lesser than the figure of 14.16 per cent for the previous week.
Experts believe that this trend has developed as the base has been shifted to a higher level. Also, the winter-crops have reached the market, pulling down the prices.
Now, with the expectations that the RBI will increase the rates, one can expect some more ease in the figures.
