Florida ‘House of Horrors’ Dentist agrees to stop practicing Dentistry

Earlier, kids’ dentist from Florida, Dr. Howard Schneider, was accused of operating a ‘house of horrors’ which included surgical procedures without anesthetic. After the accusation, the dentist has agreed to stop practicing dentistry.

According to reports, Schneider from Jacksonville faced a number of lawsuits. Recently, a number of ex-patients gathered outside the dentist’s office and complained about his practices. After receiving complaints, the state officials started an investigation. According to attorneys, the state was working on an emergency order to shut the dentist down.

The Florida Department of Health revealed that the dentist has agreed to stop practicing in the state. Schneider did not comment on the matter, but recently he was seen denying the allegations.

In November last year, Sarah Phillips of St. Augustine took her son, Mason, to the dentist after he fell from his bike. His two teeth were cracked. When Mason came out of the dentist’s office, his four teeth were missing, according to Phillips.

According to the lawsuit, “Schneider is the only pediatric dentist in Jacksonville who took Medicaid, so his practice attracted poorer clients”. Some ex-patients of Schneider said he used to do practices with anesthetics. They claimed that their children often came out of his office with cut and marks on their necks. The lawsuit also stated that the dentist wore scary costumes and threatened the children.

An attorney who has been representing a number of other patients sued Schneider for medical malpractice. The dentist has faced two previous medical malpractice lawsuits. The lawsuits were dismissed after mediation, one with a settlement.

As per the reports, the state attorney general’s fraud unit has started to investigate the case. Between 2010 and 2014, Schneider billed the government about $4 million in Medicaid reimbursements.
