The first green power grid inaugurated on Saturday to facilitate Commonwealth GamesAn out-and-out Power grid was inaugurated on Saturday by Sheila Dixit to facilitate Commonwealth Games. Personnel associated with this project claim that this power station would help to meet power demand at the Commonwealth Games Village and offer unbeatable service to almost 2 lakh people residing in close vicinity.

Sheila Dixit said that, this grid will facilitate power to the village as well as the adjoining areas. Around Rs.40 crore has been spent on the development of this grid and this grid holds a capacity of 66/11KV. This grid is supreme and has no probability for failure as it operates on a dual system i.e. it has two backhands to draw power, one from Delhi grid and another from national grid.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that this grid is made up of fly ash bricks which are environment friendly and reflects the “green”  spirit of the games by covering 30% area with greenery and considered this as an exclusive feature of this grid. This grid also facilitates water harvesting.

Talking about the Grid, Dikshit also expressed that there is a huge need to tap solar energy as the conventional sources will not last forever. She requested the citizens of Delhi to save as much power as they can and gave assurance that by next year Delhi will not face power cut issues and government will do every bit to provide electricity.

She also emphasized that there might be some expenses but all the developments occurring in the city will continue, like construction of flyovers, introducing new buses, accessing Metro system and few other developments.

According to her, Delhi will touch new heights after Commonwealth Games.
